  • Course is conducted during spring or autumn in central Adriatic (practical and theoretical lessons)

  • Each attendant will gain practical and theoretical knowledge for profession “Skipper in nautical tourism”
  • Course is conducted both in English and Croatian language (if Croatians will participate on the course)

BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE

AIM/DESCRIPTION

The aim of the 1-week “SKIPPER ASSESSMENT” course is to provide knowledge which is essential for skipper job in yacht charter industry through practical and theoretical training. Increase your chances of employment in nautical tourism with the knowledge of skippers with long term experience.

BOAT/VESSELS

For this course, we use various types of boats: typical 4 cabin charter yacht and typical sailing catamaran

INSTRUKTORI

All instructors are very experienced skippers, with years in conducting courses and many years as bareboat skippers

WEATHER

Weather in Croatia during autumn and spring is very variable with lots of wind and sun. Average temperature in October is 17 °C, in April 18 °C, and in May 21 °C.

  • the rest must be paid at least 10 days before departure
  • Horvat turizam d.o.o. can, in colaboration with our credit card companys, provide paying in rates

 

What to bring along to the course?

CLOTHES
Due to our climate in autumn and spring, it’s best to bring plenty of shorts and T-shirts, warm clothes and weather gear with a few track suits for cooled days and night sailing. The best is also to have sailing inshore suite. Winter gloves and ski head hat, sunglasses, sun protection cream, hats/beanies etc. Shoes have to be soft-soled and non-marking. Sleeping bags are mandatory.
VISAS
No need for Visas for citizens of EU. Russian guests need VISA only out of season (1.6. – 15.9.).
BEDDING
We provide sheets, pillows and pillowcases for the boats, which will be changed weekly and laundered in the local marina. Your clothes can be laundered at the local laundry for about 2,00 euro/kg. You are required to bring a sleeping bag/duvet with you as well though we will provide extra blankets if needed.
TOILETRIES (not provided)
Towels, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, sun protection cream.

ESSENTIAL FOR EXAM / NAUTICAL COURSE
  • Minimum 4, maximum 6 attendants per boat
  • Previous experience as skipper; minimum 3 – 4 weeks working experience as a skipper (send us your CV in advance !!)
  • Adults only (minimum 21 years)
  • Valid commercial skipper license – check HERE!
  • First aid certificate
  • VHF license
  • Self-medical examination
ACCOMODATION / FOOD
  • accommodation is provided during the course on the yachts
    food (extra): pizza or daily menu in Croatia is about 5,50 euro, Beer/juice about 2,00 euro
  • all people on board buy food together. Money will be collected in cash on first day of each course week all in settlement with your crew and captain – usually this amount between 50,00 and 70,00 euros
